4 Ways to Support Your Immune System During Pandemic Outbreaks

Viruses can cause fear, especially if they are rapidly spreading. Yet the best way to counter fear is to take proactive steps to protect yourself and help your immune system to be at it’s best in case you are ever exposed to a spreading virus.

The most recent fear causing outbreak is the 2019-nCoV (the 2019 Novel Coronavirus). This particular virus was first detected in Wuhan, China. At the time of this article, it is spreading person to person and it is unclear how easily or sustainable this virus is spreading between people.The latest situation summary updates are available on CDC’s web page 2019 Novel Coronavirus, Wuhan, China.

Every so often our news feeds are taken over by news of a virus that people fear is out of control. Cases of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, or SARS, first emerged in 2002 in China. This was an infectious virus that quickly spread to 37 countries globally. Before it was contained in 2003, the virus had infected 8,098 people and killed 774. SARS symptoms included fever, chills, and body aches and usually progressed to pneumonia. No cases of SARS have been reported since 2004, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

In 2007 we had the H5N1 Bird Flu scare. Avian influenza—known informally as avian flu or bird flu is a variety of influenza caused by viruses adapted to birds.

In 2009 we had the H1N1 (or the Swine Flu) scare. This virus affected many young people.

The Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus first emerged in Saudi Arabia in 2012 and has caused severe illness in people in more than 26 countries. Symptoms include fever, cough and shortness of breath, often leading to pneumonia. About 35% of people infected with MERS died, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

So knowing that viruses like this will continue to appear throughout time, how can you prepare your immune system to be strong and able to fight these things off? Besides staying indoors with the covers over your head, we have a few natural recommendations that could help get your immune system in better shape.

Below is a list of known natural ways to support your immune system and to reduce your likelihood of contracting a virus.

First, we did 3 rounds of studies on a supplement called Flax Hull Lignans, to see if it would help the children we work with who have immune systems that are compromised. We found that CD4 counts (the blood measurement of the immune system) would typically raise up in people who were consuming this natural flax derived product. We began using Flax Lignans daily with kids who had HIV and over time, viral loads dropped significantly. In some, it would drop to non-detectable. In some, over time, the children would test HIV negative even…. just by adding a bit of this to their diet daily.

Thousands of people report that by getting this into their diets, they have significantly less cases of catching common colds and viruses. Many teachers, health care workers and people who work in public places regularly add this to their diet. It also supplies a day’s supply of ALA. Flax Lignans were reported to raise CD-4 counts (the measurement of the immune system in the blood) in people with HIV who took 1.5 tsp a day for 6 weeks. This is what you want to do, raise your CD-4 counts and make your immune system strong.

There is a MD named Stephen Martin that had a PhD in Immunology from Berkley. He had a group and following that he counseled on natural therapies. One day he died suddenly and every trace of him all but disappeared off the internet. He was outspoken against pharmaceutical companies and many feared was in danger. Second, to support your immune system, you can diffuse specific essential oils in your environment to kill microbes in the air. Essential oils, if they are not tainted or added to with synthetics or chemicals, are still molecularly active. WHen you look at them under a microscope, the molecules are still rotating and moving. When you add synthetic oil or chemicals to the mixture, they stop. Effectively, they are not medicinal in value. Many, many companies get their oils from perfume industry vats which are commonly full of heavy metals and it is a standardized process to add thinners and chemicals to the oils. The manufacturers are not required to list added thinners and said chemicals on the labels. If a label says “100% pure Peppermint oil”, it means that the oil in the bottle is 100% pure peppermint, but we may have added other things to the bottle as well. It’s very important that you know your source of essential oil. Only buy clean oils that have come from surgical stainless steel distilleries. Young Living is the brand we know that does a good job at this. They have a SeedtoSeal.com process that makes sure you are getting oils from Non-GMO plants, no pesticides used on them, and distilled in surgical stainless steel. There may be other companies out there that do this as well, but our resident certified aromatherapist feels Young Living is the safest.

Thieves oil as well as Tea Tree (or Melaleuca) are known to be very anti-viral. Diffuse the essential oil in a diffuser next to your bed at night while you sleep, as well as in your workspace or home during the day.

The more you breathe the molecules, the more they will be in your blood stream, going to work to kill pathogens in your blood and supporting your immune system’s ability to fight things off.  You can also get a diffuser necklace (many available on Amazon.com) and put your essential oil on it. That will provide a little force field (if you will) of oil molecules close to your face to help kill things in the air that you might breathe in. This is very effective for wearing in public places like planes or buses. Be very aware of the brands that you use. Over 95% of essential oil companies get their oils from the same handful of distilleries around the world that are designed to be perfume distilleries. These distilleries are not designed for the health industry and have vats with various metals including aluminum. Therefor it is common to get metal toxicity in your essential oils if you are not careful. The two brands we know of that are clean are Young Living essential oils (you can get from YoungLiving.com or FlaxLignanHealth.com) and OriginalSwissAromatics.com.

If you do come down with signs of a virus, our resident certified aromatherapist says to put the antiviral essential oils with a little carrier oil (olive, coconut, etc) and coat the bottoms of your feet every hour when symptoms first arise. You can also put a few drops undiluted or diluted into your belly button. Hit it hard and frequently at the first onset of symptoms, at least for 24 hours. If you have a diffuser, you should also diffuse the oils constantly in the air you are breathing as breathing essential oils gets them directly into your blood stream and crosses the blood/brain barrier. By taking these steps you will cripple the virus replication process and allow your body a chance to take it over and destroy it.

Third, try Liquid Zeolites to reduce the viral load if you contract a virus. Purified Activated Liquid Zeolite latches on to viral components. This can help relieve some of the symptoms of viral diseases and infections. This is available at many websites including FlaxLignanHealth.com.

Don’t let the fear of an unknown (or known) virus paralyze or cripple you. You can take some steps to rev up your immune system and fight off viruses. You don’t have to sit around and hope that you don’t contract something. Be proactive. Take steps to support your body without depending on the pharmaceutical industry to be your answer. IF you do contract a virus, you are your best advocate and fighter. Have the proper tools on hand to keep the viruses from affecting you severely.
